The first UST event of 2012 kicked off last weekend under the sunnt skies of Cabo San Lucas. Last year’s champ Sam Stinnett walked away with top honors followed closely by Paulo Prietto, Bill Bryan and Blair Conklin. A full write-up and photos can be found on SkimOnline.com
Sam Stinnett walked away with 1st place at the final event of the year and in the process clinched his first World Title as 2011 UST Champion. Congratulations to Sam after a nearly perfect season with counting scores of three 1st place finishes and three 2nd place finishes. That will be a tough record to beat in future years, just as it was this year! Brad Domke finished in 8th place at Balboa and held onto his second place spot on the tour. Brad Domke won his second event of the year last weekend and launched into first place on the tour in the process. Sam Stinnett is a mere 30 points behind after the point drop (two lowest) and with three events left, it is anyone’s game. That includes Bill Bryan who with after missing OBX is still solidly in third place on the tour. First year rookie Blair Conklin racked up some more points in Vilano and solidified his fourth place tour position while Austin Keen picked up second and leapfrogged up to 5th place on the tour. Following up on his win at Aliso Sam Stinnett decided to make it two in a row in OBX last weekend and in jumped out in front as the new UST points leader. Brad Domke racked up another solid second place result in the event moving up to second place in points in the process. Blair Conklin got fourth in the last two contests but moved it up to third in this one, moving all the way from seventh on the tour to fourth. Sam Stinnett walked away with the top honors at the Aliso contest last weekend in a two day battle with some stiff competition. Some of the stiffest competition came from his older brother Jake Stinnett who walked away with second place followed by standouts Teddy Vlasis and Blair Conklin. Sam advances to the number two spot on the tour with this result as Brad Domke edges closer to points leader Bill Bryan. Jake Stinnett catapults to a tie for fifth with Teddy Vlasis. Blair Conklin is right on their tails in 7th.
The Southside DE UST event went down last weekend in very small wave conditions. Brad Domke made the most of it, winning the event and catapulting from 15th to 4th on the UST. Consistency always pays however, and Bill Bryan knows how to do the math. After finishing 3rd in Cabo he placed 2nd in Delaware and landed at 1st on the UST standings. Morgan Just and Sam Stinnett are in a virtual dead heat for the 2nd and 3rd place spots while Blair Conklin and Austin Keen throw their hats in the ring with appearances in the Delaware final.
