Sophia Nguyen Grabs 1st In Delaware & Lucas Fink Extends His Points Lead

Home to some of the best skimboarding beaches on the east coast of the USA, Dewey Beach delivered solid conditions during day one and two of the 2019 Zap World Championships of Skimboarding. The contest started on Friday morning when the third stop of the Men’s United Skim Tour was greeted with solid 2-3 foot barreling waves and clean conditions. Blair Conklin & Amber Torreabla Win In Santa Cruz

The competitors were greeted with clear skies and clean conditions at the 2019 TAC Skimblast in Santa Cruz. For the pro women, local favorite Jackie Gollbach went up against Amber Torrealba and Sam Victor. Jackie was able to throw a lot of spray and lay down some big hacks, but Amber brought some tech game that proved enough to give her the win. The first two rounds of pro men were held in small but prime 1-3 foot conditions, making for some especially competitive heats with lots of technical combinations. In a last minute change the world famous Vic contest is back on the Men’s 2019 Tour. 4 of 6 total events will count for this year’s male competitors. The Home Stretch!

After a win in Florida Lucas Fink has closed the gap on points leader Blair Conklin.  Conklin locked in a first place finish in Laguna Beach but  Lucas was right on his tail in second and managed to keep the point differential relatively small.  Conklin was a no show in Vilano and Lucas made the most of it by winning the contest and some much needed points to compete for the title! Mid Tour Roundup

Things are only getting better for Blair Conklin who started the season with a 3rd place finish in Santa Cruz, followed it up with a second place result in Outer Banks and then last weekend took the win in Dewey.  With Four contests counting this season Blair is starting to look like he will be tough to catch if he racks up a strong finish at the Vic this weekend.  Sam McCoy took second in Delaware boosting him into the top 10 while John Weber racked up another third place result landing him in 3rd place on the tour.  The

Hometown favorite Perry Pruitt took the win at the Outer Banks, NC event, jumping to 4th place on the tour.  Reigning UST champ Blair Conklin took 2nd place jumping to first place on the tour.  John Weber took 3rd place at the event which launched him to 7th in the UST standings. Lucas Fink Takes the Lead

Lucas Fink traveled all the way from Brazil for the first stop of the 2018 United Skim Tour and it paid off!  He took the win during a standout performance that sets the tone for the rest of the season.  He is currently the man to beat both in points and psychologically. 4 time champ Sam Stinnett took second place while 2017 and 2016 champ Blair Conklin snagged the 3rd place spot at an event he almost always performs well at. Blair Conklin and Sophia Nguyen Are The 2017 UST Champions!

After a second place showing at Oktoberfest Blair Conklin has locked down the UST title for the second year in a row.  Meanwhile 14 year old Sophia Nguyen won the event and the 2017 Tour with a perfect 2000 point score.  Congratulations to Sophia and Blair, our 2017 UST Champions. John Akerman Takes The Lead

After securing a win in Florida, his second of the season, John Akerman has jumped out in the lead in this year’s point standings.  Not far behind is 2016 UST Champion Blair Conklin who also has one win under his belt so far this season. Interestingly, John and Blair have not met up head to head this season as they have each missed the two events the other has attended.  Hopefully that will change in one of the upcoming events!  Santa Cruz is coming up quick followed by Oktoberfest at the end of the month.
